Brewing
with an
Aeropress
(Inversion Method)
The Aeropress is anything but conventional. However, we think it is a great way to make iced coffee or an Americano. It makes concentrated coffee that you essentially treat like you would espresso.
How much coffee and water do I use?
Go by the instructions and use the scoop provided for coffee and the printed measurements on the device for water. We prefer to grind slightly coarser than we would espresso.
How do I use it?
Use the inverted method (shown in the picture) to get the best brew. Below is what we would considered the equivalent of two "shots."
-Push the plunger into the top about half an inch and stand up as shown in the picture.
-Pour 36 grams (approx. 2 scoops) of finely ground coffee into the top using the funnel provided to not it spill all over.
-Pour in 100 grams of water about 30 seconds off of a boil. Note: Fresher coffee will have a larger blossom going nearly to the top of the Aeropress.
-Stir for gently for 30 seconds to make sure all grinds are exposed to the water.
-Let it brew for another 30 seconds while you get your cup ready and screw the filter and lid on the top of the Aeropress.
-For iced coffee: Turn press over and slowly extract over ice water. Only plunge Aeropress until all the water comes out. If you push all the way to the bottom with force you are over extracting the beans. Use a 12oz-16oz cup and fill with water to your preference.
-For hot coffee: Turn press over and slowly extract over a coffee mug. Only plunge Aeropress until all the water comes out. If you push all the way to the bottom with force you are over extracting the beans. Use a 8oz-12oz cup and fill with water to your preference.
